Tweet along with #spjchat

Hey, here’s something to do with all that darned free time you have. (OK, that was a joke.) The Society of Professional Journalists is combining new social media ideas with something it has always championed – networking opportunities for journalists – in #spjchat.

As you can see by the link, the idea is to involve journalists from all over the world in a discussion of topics that are relevant to all of us – First Amendment issues, mobile apps, visual storytelling and so on. The rules of engagement are fairly clear from the link and I see there will be an archive of the discussion if you can’t participate live.

I plan to have a look at the archives whenever I get a spare minute.

Never heard of the SPJ? It’s a 101-year-old professional organization dedicated to the ethical practice of journalism. You hear a lot about it on college campuses. The Web site offers a bunch of useful information. Take a look.
