Now just drag and drop

drag and drop

Those of us using TownNews for our CMS will want to take note of a cool new feature that might prove useful. As you know, you have been able to collect photos, video, audio, and other media and place it in the shoulder of your stories. Now you can drag and drop media directly into stories and place that related content right where you want it.

Why would you want to do that? Well, consider, for instance a live blog approach to the news. Maybe you are covering a developing flood and doing it with a tick-tock approach. You want to show emergency crews showing up at 1 a.m. and then people evacuating further down in your story. Or maybe you want to add a video at the point in which the football coach mentions the catch that won the game.

Here’s a blog link from TownNews explaining the technique. There is an accompanying video that was all-but too fast for me to follow.

One caveat. When I tried it, I couldn’t use the “find assets” button under related content. It only worked when I added new media assets as I was updating my story.

Questions?
